How I captured a dropship
#1
So, I was playing my MekHQ campaign and got a mission to take down a dropship in low atmo. Google had told me that capturing dropships was pretty much impossible due to the fact that you needĀ just the right consecutive crits to not just kill the thing. Contract is 70% salvage and it's an Excalibur so I'm getting a lot of pay either way, but I'm really wishing I could take the thing whole. Anyway, one of my Stukas gets into LRM range and I take a potshot. Dropship loses control and drops like a rock, straight into a lake. I'm thinking it'll just pop right out and keep killing it's escort, but apparently that's it for the dropship. Contract ends after I shoot the last escort down, and when I get to the salvage menu I'm greeted by a lightly damaged but fully functional Excalibur class dropship. Apologies if this is a really well known method or something, I'm just stoked I got the thing and my salvage was good enough for me to keep it.

I think that's awesome! RNG was in your favor for that mission.
